Bachelor of Computer Application :

The basic objective of this programme is to open a channel of admission for bachelor degree, for students who have done the 10 + 2 and are interested in taking up computing as a career. After acquiring the Bachelor's Degree at IGNOU, there is a further educational opportunity to opt for an MCA degree at IGNOU or a Master's programme at another University.

Eligibilty:

10+2 or its equivalent with Maths as a distinct subject. 3 to 6 Yrs

3000/- per semester(Rs.100/- as registratation charges)

English
10+2 or equivalent without Maths after completion of IGNOU's CIC 3 to 6 Yrs
First Year     Six Courses
Semester I
CS-610   Foundation Course in English for Computing   Developing your skills in reading , writing , listening and speaking.
FHS-01   Foundation Course in Humanities and Social Sciences   Offering a basic notion of most of the social economic, political, cultural and other related humanistic problem.
CS-611   Computer Fundamentals and PC Software   Introductory topics like history of computers , data representation . Word processing and Presentation Software.
         
Semester II    
CS-612   PC Software Application Skills   Ms-Excel, Internet Awareness and problem solving techniques.
CS-60   Foundation Course in Mathematics in Computing   Basic techniques of differential and integral calculus.
CS-62   'C' Programming and Data Structure   C language programming and Data Structure concepts like graphs, trees , lists , stacks, queues.
         
Second Year     Eight Courses
Semester III
FST-01   Foundation Course in Science and Technology   History of Science from very ancient times to modern periods.
CS-63   Introduction to System Software   Assemblers, Compilers , Loaders, Linkers, Macro Processors and Unix OS.
CS-05   Elements of System Analysis and Design   It deals with the analysis , design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer based information systems.
         
Semester IV
CS-06   Introduction to DBMS   Conventional Databases, Object oriented, Distributed , Client Server and Knowledge Databases.
CS-64   Introduction to Computer Organization   Parallel processing, Parallel and vector computers – Theory, technology, architecture and software aspects.
CS-65   Windows Programming   VB programming covering variables functions, procedures, database access and OLE.
CS-66   Multimedia   Basic techniques of multimedia developments , testing and packaging and distributing multimedia applications.
CS-67   RDBMS Lab   Conventional Databases, Object oriented, Knowledge Databases ,SQL and Calculus, Normalization, Security and Integrity.
         
Third Year     Eight Courses and a Project
Semester V
CS-68   Computer Network   Large number of concepts, techniques, design applications and standards of networking. OSI reference model.
CS-69   TCP/IP Programming    
CS-70   Introduction to Software Engineering   Software project management, Requirement Analysis and Specification, Object oriented analysis and Data modeling.
CS-71   Computer Oriented Numerical Techniques   Numerical interpolation, Differentiation, Integration, Linear , Non-linear and ordinary differential equations.
 
Semester VI
CS-72   C++ and Object Oriented Programming   Object Oriented programming languages, OODBMS, Object Oriented Analysis and Design
CS-73   Theory of Computer Science   Context free grammars, Turing machines, Push down automata and finite automata.
CS-74   Introduction to Internet Programming (Java, ActiveX)   Java programming , Applet Programming , Layout Managers, GUI
CS-75   Intranet Administration   Learning and constructing the intranet. Setting up Intranet Sites, Authoring and Management Tools and Protocols.
         
CS-76   Project
